About Jacob Tilton
I grew up in southwest Louisiana, and studied music education at McNeese State University. Over the years, I have taught hundreds of students piano, guitar and a few other instruments. I have also been involved in music ministry since high school. I live in Fort Worth, TX with my wife and three children. I'm the music director at Fort Worth Presbyterian Church, where I have served since 2006. I enjoy cajun food, Texas barbecue, and making my family laugh.

What a time last night celebrating 14+ years of ministry and life here in Fort Worth. We are so grateful to God for our Fort Worth Presbyterian family and for our years here. It is bittersweet to change but we are looking forward to this next season of life and ministry in San Antonio at Redeemer Presbyterian. Funny, I had a lot of goodbye conversations last night with people I love but the only time I got teary eyed was hearing these fantastic musicians playing such life-filled music! What a blessing!

Special Happy Birthday to @kerrie_tilton today! She is the rock of this family and our light at the same time. I guess that makes her “light rock”. We love you and are so grateful for you!

Coming soon to a podcast near you! Richie and I have been friends for about 20 years now. We started zooming semi-regularly at the beginning of the pandemic. I worked up the nerve to ask him if he’d consider doing a podcast. Well, lo and behold, here we are. Coming soon!

When I sit down at the piano, 9 times out of 10 I start by playing the beginning of Ellis Marsalis’ Have You Met Miss Jones? from his 1992 album, Heart of Gold. These songs just became part of my heart language. He will be missed. #ellismarsalis #ripellis

After the Love Has Gone – Earth, Wind & Fire. This song goes from the key of F to B in the chorus. ????????Musically, you really can’t change keys further than that. Amazing how it works. And so bright! #tritonesubstitution

When I was about 8 years old I was with my family at Sam Houston Jones State Park in LA. This kid on a bike rides by and somehow he has a boom box strapped to his bike. That Aline was enough to grab my attention. But out of those speakers came the coolest sounding Gm guitar riff I had ever heard. I was captivated by just the sounds of Money for Nothing. Fast forward about 9 years and I can remember exactly where I was when I heard the guitar solo for Sultans of Swing for the first time sitting in a Toyota pickup truck. Blown away. A few years after that Kerrie and I had the soundtrack to the Princess Bride in our wedding. Mark Knopfler’s music has meant so much to me. To me, nobody tells stories lyrically and musically quite like him. It was great to finally get to see him last night with my favorite gal. #markknopfler #markknopflerlive
